  2. Flashes of Hope is a national nonprofit organization that changes the way children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses see themselves - through the gift of photography - and raises money for pediatric cancer research. Professional photographers provide free portraits of the children to help them feel better about their changing appearance.

Flashes of Hope is currently in 40 children's hospitals and 20 children's camps across the country and ASMP photographers are creating powerful images of strength, beauty and dignity in cities across the U.S. for Flashes of Hope.

Having a strong partnership with ASMP, a Shared Copyright Agreement has been created. In addition, ASMP members are exempt from the extensive portfolio review process.

The next opportunity to get involved:

Camp Sunrise photo shoot on August 5, 2010 in Wheatly Heights, NY (Long Island), from 8:30am-12:30pm.

There are 4 spots for Photographer volunteers that need to be filled. An email including volunteer instructions, guidelines, file preparation instructions and the copyright agreement will be sent to photographers prior to the photo shoot explaining how photographers work with the organization.

To sign up for one of these dates and for more information, please visit www.flashesofhope.org

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and VII Photo present “Starved for Attention,” a multimedia campaign exposing the neglected and largely invisible crisis of childhood malnutrition.

VII photojournalists Marcus Bleasdale, Jessica Dimmock, Ron Haviv, Antonin Kratochvil, Franco Pagetti, Stephanie Sinclair, and John Stanmeyer traveled to malnutrition “hotspots” around the world—from war zones to emerging economies—to shed light on the underlying causes of the malnutrition crisis and innovative approaches to combat this condition.

Starved for Attention” captures frontline stories of malnutrition from Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, India, Mexico, and the United States.
