Parsons alumni and photographer, Anna Skladmann

Here is a wonderful interview with Anna Skladmann who has been photographing the children of Russia's nouveau riche. Her shots of these kids haunt me. They are really intense to say the least!

Art Basel Miami Beach, Scope, Fountain and Seven

Last week was the 10th anniversary of the biggest art fair in the country. I had been to Miami before but not for ABMB. I was an Art Basel virgin...

You could tell who was from New York because every other person was wearing black even in the 77 degrees weather. Yeah, I saw art. Lots of it, but not super impressed with the 1% of artists lucky enough to show at Basel. The best work was in a satellite fair in the Wynwood district called Seven with galleries such as Williamsburg's Pierogi, Edward Winkleman, P.P.O.W and Bravin Lee. The work of these galleries were not set up in booths but in an open industrial space with room to let the work breathe on the walls, floors, ceiling, etc. It was also so tightly curated that every piece worked swimmingly alongside each other. Their belief is, "the emphasis on cooperation rather than competition." And for me, that's all I need to hear to be convinced that these gallerists are the honest ones. The ones who place art before money. Thank you Seven, for making my time in Miami worthwhile.

Here are some images from my art journey. Enjoy!
